Sailors and Coast Guardsmen may self-refer to the program or be referred by family members, command leadership or medical providers.

"For the longest time, I was doing nothing. I would go to the gym and then go home and play video games and watch TV. Adaptive athletics has opened my eyes so much."

Navy Wounded Warrior provides enrollee families with a variety of support services to help make their jobs as caregivers more manageable.

"I look forward to the camaraderie and I am proud to represent my community and the Navy," said 2016 Warrior Games athlete.

Adaptive sports help wounded warriors build strength and endurance, while also drawing inspiration from their teammates.

   

Enrollment

The challenges that accompany a serious illness or injury can be confusing, frustrating and exhausting for a service member. Navy Wounded Warrior is here to help. The program allows service members to focus on their recovery, while its team of experts resolves non-medical problems and prepares them for transition back to active duty or civilian life.

Enrollment in Navy Wounded Warrior is voluntary. Service members may refer themselves to the program. Alternatively, a family member, the service member's command or a medical provider can make a referral.

Enrollment in Navy Wounded Warrior does not end when a service member leaves a medical treatment facility. Navy Wounded Warrior provides a lifetime of support.
