CS3 Anfernee Moore Named Warrior of the Month
March 11, 2025 | Story by Alyssa Ross | Navy Wounded Warrior
Culinary Specialist 3rd Class Anfernee Moore was named the Wounded Warrior of the Month for Navy Region Southwest. He has been an active member of Navy Wounded Warrior, taking critical steps to make sure he is set up for success in his post-military career.
"Navy Wounded Warrior has been an invaluable source of support during my transition back into civilian life," said Moore. The program provided a transformative turn of hope in my life."
Moore's care team connected him with two key resources that changed the trajectory of his transition from service. The first was steadfast staff support. With regular check-ins through emails, texts, and in-person meetings, Moore was able to overcome his initial fears and uncertainty to enroll in school. He starts in Fall 2025. "Navy Wounded Warrior played a pivotal role in empowering me to be the best version of myself," he said. "This program guided me through difficult times, helping me recclaim control of my life and career aspirations."
The second resource was adaptive sports. He attended an introductory camp in November 2024 in Port Hueneme, Calif. There, he met other enrollees, reconnected with a team environment, and learned to focus on things he can still do, like wheelchair basketball. "This was instrumental for my mental well-being and introduced me to a supportive community that helped me realize I am not forgotten," he said.
Moore's active-duty story is ending soon, but with Navy Wounded Warrior's help, he is prepared for what comes next. "This journey is about creating a brighter and more promising future. I am grateful for this honor and the opportunities it has afforded me. I appreciate the continued support and guidance as I navigate this next chapter."
